The Absoger ethylene catalyst eliminates the presence of ethylene in fruit and vegetable storage facilities.
Ethylene is a chemical compound that speeds up the ripening of fruit and vegetables. It is therefore important to get rid of it in storage areas, in order to extend the shelf life of fruit and vegetables.
The catalyst is fitted with a fan that draws air from the storage room. As the air is drawn in, ethylene in the air is burned by an electrical resistor (230-260 oC). The air then cools down through a heat exchanger and returns to the storage room free of ethylene. The flow direction is reversed periodically so that the treated air is at a temperature close to that of the storage room.
The ethylene catalyst can be used for:
- Standard storage rooms
- Controlled atmosphere storage rooms
